Each year, the Consumer Electronic Show (CES) hosts some of the automobile industry's most incredible reveals, and 2023 was no exception. As you would expect, Volkswagen presented us with a fully electric vehicle; this time, it is the ID.7, a big luxury sedan.
Volkswagen ID electric sub-brand already counts several models under its name. Of course, the ID.4 and the upcoming ID are currently offered in North America. Buzz, which is a modern version of the classic VW Buss. I am very excited to put my hands behind the wheels of this new model. These two aren't the only models offered by the ID brand. The ID.3, ID.5, and ID.6 are available in other markets.
ID.7
What makes things interesting for the ID.7 is that it has been presented at the CES, which means it will undoubtedly come to North America.
Of course, the ID strongly inspired the Volkswagen ID.7 design. Aero Concept was first introduced in Canada back in June of last year. As you may know, Volkswagen discontinued the Passat very recently. The ID.7 is about the same size, making us think it was meant to replace the German ICE sedan from the beginning.
Although we have little information about its powertrain, Volkswagen mentioned a few things about the technical aspect of the ID.7 at the CES. According to the German manufacturer, its EV sedan will offer a range of 700 kilometers on a single charge. However, the WLTP method was used to calculate the ID.7 autonomy here, meaning the number could be slightly lower in North America.
A Smart Vehicle
The Volkswagen ID.7 will be more than just another electric sedan. The German manufacturer implanted a lot of new tech in its latest model, such as an automatic climate control capable of starting air conditioning or heating when you approach the vehicle with the key. There are some buttons on the steering wheel, but Volkswagen squeezed almost every other command on the 15-inch touch screen in the middle of the car dashboard. The ID.7 will be equipped with an all-digital display and a head-up display with augmented reality.
The full reveal of the Volkswagen ID.7 is set for later this spring. The new German electric sedan should go on sale before the end of the year. Prices haven't been announced yet.
